Reflecting on the season so far and what’s to come, it occurred to me that there are a few ‘must do’s’ for West Ham United. It is also something to think about for the years ahead, as I can personally see a day when West Ham could become another Manchester City. Who would have thought

Despite the lack of goals in our recent games, there is much to enthuse in relation to the approach of our current squad of players. In the past two games, we created three to four ‘near’ goals. When Enner Valencia was given his 30 minute period against Stoke, it became apparent how important he is

Slaven Bilic and Mark Hughes both had reason to feel pleased at the end of a compelling contest which finished goalless If it was not quite a case of Match of the Day leaving the best until last, then West Ham United’s goalless draw with Stoke City was nowhere near as bad as a cursory glance at the scoreline must make it look. It would have been in the past – imagine…

This is a lighthearted look at West Ham’s injury list and an XI made up of some of the more unfit, injury prone, woeful and the more unlikely looking footballers to wear Claret and Blue. But first, what a week of football and it just keeps getting better with the news of Winston Reid’s hamstring injury likely

You would probably agree, but the season so far has flown by. It was only a matter of months ago that former manager Sam Allardyce was guiding West Ham to mid table security after an incredibly bright start to last season, but then it all came to an end when the Christmas decorations came down.

When will the injuries stop? We’ve now got six key players out injured and we’re in serious danger of undoing our superb start to the season. With a fully fit squad a home game against Stoke City ‘should’ have been a fairly straight forward affair for us, but now it’s not looking too easy. Stoke

With a string of injuries to key players and a transfer window opening in just a few weeks, it’s probably wise that we look to bring in reinforcements when we have the opportunity. Due to said injuries, it hasn’t been a surprise to see us being linked with a load of new faces leading in to

It was barely three weeks ago, following the Everton game, when we lost Dimi Payet and Enner Valencia; there was an almost reflex, pervasive sense of ‘doom and gloom’, all around the West Ham community. “How will we cope” seemed to be the reflected sentiment at the time. On November 23 I wrote about the

Many avid West Ham fans will be hoping the Hammers do not come down with the Christmas decorations like last season where we were fourth on Christmas day under the guidance of a certain Sam Allardyce. It’s fair to say Man United have benefited nicely from West Ham over the years. Since the arrival of Slaven Bilic in the summer we’ve been able to witness a much more exciting style of football than in recent seasons. The combination of Diafra Sakho, Dimitri Payet, Manuel Lanzini and Victor Moses made us one of the most dangerous attacking teams in the Premier League. But injuries to Sakho and

Rickie Lambert’s career seemed to be petering out at West Bromwich Albion but the 33-year-old proved that there is life in him yet, as he came off the bench at Upton Park to revive his team and help salvage a point that had looked improbable. The 33-year-old has started only three Premier League games for Albion since tearing himself away from Liverpool in the summer in search of more action and, as with every game since…

We welcome West Brom to the Boleyn Ground today in a clash I would say is our first ‘must-win’ fixture of the campaign. We’ve only picked up one point from our last three outings, following a run of seven league games unbeaten and the last thing we need is a run of bad form that

Since his arrival in London last summer, my estimation of Slaven Bilic has grown even further from my initial ‘base-line’ perspective. He is a very likeable fellow, always pleased to talk to his players and maintain good relations with the press. Until now, he has hardly put a foot wrong. So in a short time

Bringing Carl Jenkinson back for another season was one our main priorities in the summer. West Ham have not won since defeating Chelsea on 24 October, which will have prompted fears one of the club’s traditional mid-season slumps might be brewing. Last week’s mauling at Tottenham was certainly chastening and Slaven Bilic, shorn of his most creative player, Dimitri Payet, is also without his suspended captain Mark Noble against an Albion side buoyed by beating Arsenal 2-1. Tom Davies Kick-off Sunday 2.05pm Continue reading…

My first thoughts in relation to a Scotty Parker’s suggestion that we are destined for a mid-table finish in the current Premier League season is that perhaps Slav has sown that he is ‘human’, after all. Our starting line-up against Spurs was clearly not right (no further arguments needed) – Carroll should not have started!
