It’s been clear for weeks, even when we were winning, that the Hammers need to be much sharper over the ground and in front of goal.

Tony Cottee has been speaking to today’s Official Programme about where he feels this evening’s game can be won or lost, and he believes Manuel Lanzini will be key.
He declared: “From our point of view, I think a lot of responsibility will rest on the shoulders of our attacking midfield players, and it may need a moment of magic to get through Palace’s back line.
“Manuel Lanzini could come back into the starting line-up after his injury, and he for me is still our star player when it comes to unlocking a defence.
“We have some wonderful talent going forward – Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko, Pablo Fornals, Jack Wilshere – probably the best group of attacking players we have had at West Ham since Harry Redknapp was manager, but Lanzini is really the one who makes us tick, and most capable of creating something out of nothing.

Former West Ham manager Sam Allardyce praised Hammers captain Mark Noble, he told listeners on Talk Sport “Everything rubs off on Mark Noble. He’s obviously a talented footballer. He might look like he’s 5ft 8in, but he stands at 6ft 4in every time he puts on that West Ham shirt, because he’s proud to play for that football club. He’s obviously not the quickest. His knowledge of the game is incredible, though, so whatever he loses in terms of speed he makes up with his brain which moves him into positions other players wouldn’t have thought of getting into.”
