The sponsorship deal with world-wide Forex brokers Alpari and West Ham United is good news for West Ham supporters as a number of promotions have stemmed from the deal.
With Alpari (UK) Ltd having signed a 3 year sponsor deal with West Ham Unite, the business side of things is not the only side which is seeing some tantalising benefits. Since the deal went ahead in the middle of 2011, Alpari (UK) has hosted a number of promotions for the benefit of West Ham supporters.
One recently expired deal offered West Ham supporters the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to the West Ham United versus Crystal Palace Championship game on the 25th of February 2012 at the Boleyn Ground. All supporters had to do to enter was click a button on their Facebook profile, if you haven’t already done so. Then visit the WHUFC Prize Draw app in the left hand menu of the Alpari (UK) Facebook page to submit your details.”
Another deal which was held fairly recently involved the official sponsor of West Ham United giving away two signed footballs and two signed West Ham United shirts. These valuable pieces of memorabilia for the 2011/2012 football season were given out to participating supporters via a prize draw.
It’s generally accepted that this is part of Alpari (UK)’s role in sharing the passion of the sport, in accordance with the words of the Alpari (UK) COO David Stewart just after the deal was signed and sealed in 2011: “Alpari (UK) and West Ham United share core values such as drive, commitment and passion for what we do. We are excited about this partnership.”
Alpari (UK) have shown a track record of providing regular promotions for the 2011/2012 football season because, along with the offers outlined above, the company have also offered pairs of tickets for major home games against Nottingham Forest, Southampton, and Derby County.
For many, this is no surprise as Alpari as a global brand have had extensive experience and success in the world of sports sponsorship. To date, Alpari (US) have been the sponsor for the world-famous indoor venue of Madison Square Venue in New York, the sponsor of the New York hockey team the Rangers, and the basketball team the New York Knicks. Elsewhere in the world, Alpari (NZ) has also penned a sponsorship deal with the Russian sports team “Spartak”.
West Ham United welcomed the original sponsorship deal with open arms as Communications Director Barry Webber commented soon after the deal that: “We are delighted to sign this partnership agreement with Alpari (UK). It will have a significant and positive impact on the club, and the deal demonstrates that West Ham United remains an attractive proposition to prospective partners, especially in the key world of business and finance.”
As part of the original deal, Alpari (UK) gained the opportunity to rename the stand on the west side of the Boleyn Ground as the Alpari Stand and to advertise its new products within match programs, on the screens in the ground, and on the official West Ham United website. However, West Ham supporters also gained more than the initial financial boost as they have now been exposed to the above promotions and have had the opportunity to learn more about Forex trading.
The deal with West Ham United is currently set to last for three years and will expire in the year 2014.
