Hammers must cure away-day blues
West Ham have started to show some signs of life under David Moyes and will hope that continues when they travel to Yorkshire to take on Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
From being stuck in the bottom three, the Hammers are now 15th in the Premier League standings but crucially only two points above the dreaded drop zone such is the congested nature of the bottom half of the table.
Two wins and two draws from the last five fixtures has given the EastEnders encouragement and a game against the Terriers will be seen as one they need to win if they are to put further daylight between themselves and the bottom three.
However that is easier said than done as the Irons have not enjoyed too much success on the road this term with just one win all season away from the London Stadium.
They have drawn five but lost six and will need to be wary of a Huddersfield side who have shown themselves to be no mugs during their first season in the Premier League, especially at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Four wins and four draws from 11 home games proves that they are hard to beat on their own patch as manager David Wagner has his men well drilled and disciplined, and they have two more points than West Ham at present.
Moyes will need his big players to stand up and, in Marko Arnautović, he has someone who is prepared to do just that.
The Austria interactional is in great form at the moment and, having struggled earlier in the season, is now winning over the fans.
He missed the 1-1 draw at Tottenham and FA Cup third-round stalemate at Shrewsbury Town through injury but is targeting a comeback this weekend, saying: “I want to show people what I am capable of and bring this club up with everything I have got.”
The home side have been boosted by the arrival of Monaco defender Terence Kongolo and, with the return of Michael Hefele and Jon Gorenc Stanković, it will make them even harder to break down on their own patch.
It is certain to be a very different line up that Moyes fields on Saturday from the one that failed to score against the Shrews and it may well be that Andy Carroll sees some game time.
The giant striker has only started seven league games this season with two goals to his name, but his physicality might make the difference against a Huddersfield side that will give nothing away.
It would be no surprise to see just one goal settle affairs and don’t forget to check out the odds for the upcoming game via recommended bookmakers http://www.gamblingkingz.co.uk.
Moyes has never been known as a manager to throw caution to the winds and, under his guidance, the football has not been scintillating but the Scot knows that his job is to keep the club in the top-flight after their woeful start.
Three points at the weekend would certainly help and give all at the club a boost with winnable home games against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace on the horizon.
