The summer transfer window was a busy one for many clubs looking to bolster their squads. It was a similar story for the hammers as they invested around £100 million on the team bringing in several big names.
This led to many people supporting them for success this season on betting-universe.com. So how have some of these major summer signings fared as we move into the Christmas period, with the hammers currently sitting in 13th in the premier league.
Issa Diop – £21m
This was a surprise signing for the hammers at the start of the season as they brought in the highly rated Issa Diop from Toulouse. This was a five year contract with big things expected from the centre half, and a sign of intent from West Ham, pushing to £21 million. There is little doubt it has been a fantastic signing as Diop has formed a very strong partnership at the back with Fabian Balbuena. The future is very bright for Diop considering he is still just 21 years of age.
Lukasz Fabianski – £7m
The Polish goalkeeper was brought in as he has a lot of experience in the premier league. He has made a relatively strong start to the season, and is set to play an important role for the club in the near future. He has struggled for clean sheets but picked up one most recently with the 3-0 victory over Newcastle.
Jack Wilshere – FREE
There is little doubt this was one of the most exciting signings of the summer considering he was acquired for a free, but on his day can be a fantastic player. He has struggled through injuries for many years at Arsenal. Pellegrini has recently stated that he could have cost the club up to £100 million for a player of his quality. He returned recently following a three month absence due to an ankle injury.
Andriy Yarmolenko – £17.5m
Unfortunately he has suffered a torn achilles, so is set to be out for around six months. This is disappointing for the club and player as big things were expected this season. He has scored two goals in his first ten appearances for the club, so will be a big addition to the squad once returning from injury.
Felipe Anderson – £42m
Anderson was the big summer signing for West Ham, and a very exciting talent. The Brazilian is now really starting to make a big influence in the team, so it is looking money well spent. He has gained many recently plaudits following a starring performance against Newcastle. The 25 year old has also now scored five goals in his opening 14 premier league appearances, which is a solid return.
