Dear Upthehammers,
There was a good intensity about our second half performance and we were unfortunate not to score through a couple of clear-cut chances.
Newcastle were obviously fired up for the game and came out of the blocks strongly. However our defenders did excellently and Winston Reid in particular deserves praise for his perseverance to get back and make the goalline clearance.
We now have two games left to make sure we get as many points on the board as we can and we have a very real chance of finishing in the top ten, which is great for our first season back in the top flight. Everton away will be difficult though so we must not lose our focus despite very nearly being mathematically safe now ahead of the season finale against Reading.
I am really looking forward to Wednesday night’s Player Awards evening. It will be a fantastic occasion to celebrate what has been a good season for West Ham United. I understand the last few places are selling out fast so move quickly if you want to come as it would be great to see as many of you there as possible.
Thanks for your support again on Saturday, it was as superb as ever.
Come on you Irons!
