West Ham have the new Drogba, states Joe Cole.
Joe Cole has stated his team mate Andy Carrol could be as good as ex Chelsea Didier Drogba.
Carroll signed for the Hammers on a permanent basis for £15 million earlier this summer on a 6 year contract, after a very good start on loan from Liverpool.
The ex Newcastle player scored 7 goals in 24 appearances for West Ham in that spell, which came after a difficult time at Liverpool, with manager Brendan Rodgers deeming him surplus to requirements.
Now Cole has stated the former-Newcastle-Liverpool player is playing excellent football after looking at the latest betting accumulator and thinks a call up for the England squad is a possibility.
He has said to West Ham TV that: “I’ve played with Caroll at Liverpool and at West Ham and he is full of confidence, strong, aggressive and you can see what a great player to the club he is.
“He had a difficult time at Liverpool, but Carroll is a real handful and a top player. He’ll be looking at getting a call up for the England squad and he can be anything he wants to be.
You look at Drogba, that’s the level he can get to. He’s a very good player and we’re glad to have him at West Ham.”
Andy Carroll is to miss the start of the upcoming season with a foot injury, but its an important year for the player, as he will be aiming to win a place in England’s 2014 World Cup squad.
