Alfie Lewis Excited About His First Contract with West Ham United

17-year-old Alfie Lewis has recently signed on at West Ham. The three year deal follows several wonderful displays of prowess on the field in the youth ranks throughout the season.

Alfie Lewis

Alfie Lewis is a central-midfielder and as those who understand football realize it’s one of the toughest and most crucial positions on the entire field. Having an up and coming star signing a contract with a team like West Ham is an exciting venture.

Keeping Lewis at the Club until 2020

This contract essentially ensures that Alfie Lewis will remain with the club until 2020. While he will still need a lot of work to get ready for the major leagues, it will provide both West Ham and Lewis the opportunity to forge a stronger relationship, increase his skill set, and allow the team to begin molding him into exactly what they need for their future.

The young star was understandable excited about the opportunity to sign this three year contract. He said in an interview, “It’s great news. This is the contract you always want when you first join the Club. I’ve done my scholarship and now I’m on my pro deal, so I’m looking forward to it.”

In 13 appearances with the Under-18 league this year, Alfie Lewis netted two goals and two assists. He was also involved in the Under-23 side and eventually promoted to the Division One in Premier League 2 due to a playoff final win over Newcastle.

Lewis was also involved in three matches in the EFL Cup. Some of these matches, though, were controversial in nature due to them including developmental squads for the top teams this season.

The History of West Ham Youth Development

West Ham has been famous for helping to develop some of the top players throughout Premier League throughout its history, but recently co-owner David Gold made a comment about how he isn’t expecting to see any of these young kids breaking through to the first team.

Betting sites, like , pay attention to these details closely, though, especially given the importance of understanding player development, future focus of teams within the Premier League, and many other factors.

For a co-owner to make a comment like that, especially given the club’s impressive record of youth development and future stars within the League, leaves one to wonder if their future may not be as bright as they would hope or if they’re just tempering enthusiasm at this time.

Whatever the case may be for the future of West Ham, right now, Alfie Lewis and fans of the club are excited about their future.
