Should West Ham follow Schalke’s stadium payment move?

In the modern climate, football clubs are constantly on the lookout for new and innovative ways to enhance facilities for both players and fans

With technology progressing at a level that can ensure both pure entertainment and safety for everyone. One such club comes in the form of German outfit Schalke, with the Bundesliga competitors having implemented a brand new system of payment methods for their supporters at their home ground, which has been a success so far according to www.schalke04.de.

The Royal Blues, who were founded back in 1904, finished second behind dominant champions Bayern Munich in their domestic league ventures last season but have stuttered at the beginning of this current campaign. At the VELTINS-Arena, Schalke have implemented a brand new cashless payment system in the stadium, meaning fans visiting home games will have to abide by the system now undertaken.

Basically, Schalke have introduced their own unique currency at their home ground, with this being called Knappe. Cash is now no longer accepted at any of the stadium kiosks located around the venue. Instead, the only payment method that can be accepted by staff working there is a Knappen card from fans.

Knappen cards can be topped up in a minimum of five euro increments, with one euro equaling one Knappe. The maximum top-up at any one time is 150 euros, which can be used for all the usual essentials for a day out on game day.

So, should other clubs begin implementing the same sort of system at their stadiums? There are a host of Premier League sides that could undertake it, particularly those with new state-of-the-art home grounds such as West Ham United. The Hammers recently made the Olympic Stadium their brand new home ground and they are an English top-flight team that could eventually follow Schalke with their no-cash plans. The ground was famously used at the 2012 Games and has been transformed into a UEFA Category 4 Stadium (the highest possible classification) as listed by www.worldstadiumdatabase.com.

Electronic currency helps to make all transactions inside the VELTINS-Arena very fast, easy and more financially safe. No longer will fans need to worry about having the right change or hiding their cash in a safe place during extremely busy matchdays.

There are plenty of benefits to this new system and there are plenty of other industries that are now accepting different and non-conventional payment methods. This includes the casinos advertised on www.casinowings.com, with there being an abundance of deposit methods online here including EntroPay, iDebit, Maestro, Mastercard, Neteller, PayPal, PaysafeCard, Skrill, Visa and WebMoney among others.

As the technology and financial systems continue to progress and develop over the years, football clubs are also getting involved and the Hammers could soon be one of the teams copying Schalke’s early moves into this new era.Imagine heading into the Olympic Stadium shops at half-time for a pie and a beer with just your exclusive club card in hand, no need for any hassle of looking through your wallet for the correct change or worrying about any problems. It’s something that could well be used in the near future up and down stadiums throughout the Premier League.
