West Ham have already started a preliminary round of talks with Slaven Bilic over a deal aimed at keeping him at the club for the next five years. However, as reported by ClaretandHugh towards the end of last week there will be improvements and escape clauses inserted against the possibility of things going pear-shaped! Although […]

Some things have to be done …and this is one of them. There is little point in ClaretandHugh – or any other independent website claiming it is here for the supporters – if it doesn’t raise their perfectly justified complaints. Last week we drew attention to the wicked problems people were encountering in trying to […]

I have no problem with patient football….to a point. Certainly it’s an awful lot better than hoofball which in the context of yesterday’s match against Southampton would have served us no better than the pass and “probe” (I use the word carefully) approach we adopted against a well drilled defence. Yes I understand the team […]

Slaven Bilic has agreed that the Irons missed out on a “great opportunty” at Southampton yesterday declaring: “Of course we are gutted.” And he added: “It’s a game we didn’t deserve to lose – we made a sloppy start but were the better team for three-quarters of the game.” However, once again he was forced to […]

I really wouldn’t have wanted to be a West Ham player this evening given the clear mood of Slaven Bilic when he appeared before the cameras. Another clean sheet and, most important, another win for Southampton. Victor Wanyama’s avoidable sending-off in the 54th minute meant they had to withstand a barrage of West Ham United pressure but the resurgence of Ronald Koeman’s team since the turn of the year shows no sign of abating thanks to Maya Yoshida’s early goal. This victory made it 13 points from the last 15 and suddenly a top-six place is in Southampton’s sights. They have still not conceded since Fraser Forster made…
