To say Malian international Modibo Maiga had a difficult time at Upton Park would certainly be something of an understatement. Despite arriving

Over the years I think it is fair to say we have seen some diabolical players grace the Boleyn Ground. Before I announce my opinion on the worst since the 2006/7 season, there must be notable mentions for Robbie Keane, Razvan Rat, Roger Johnson, Tyrone Mears, John Pantsil, Radoslav Kovac and Tal Ben Haim. There were… Read more »

West Ham eyeing up next season With West Ham all but safe, sitting ten points clear of the drop zone with only five games remaining, co-owner David Gold has expressed his determination to avoid yet another relegation battle next year. With recent victories over both Hull and Sunderland, the club have already began engaging in possible transfer and contract talks with current and prospective signings. Gold, speaking in the match day programme…

It’s has been obvious for a long time now that there needs to be a huge clear out this summer if we are to avoid yet another battle for Premier League survival next season. We are not exactly safe from the drop yet this season, but it would take a monumental collapse from us and… Read more »

Transf er Window Summary It’s a time which every football fan across the countr y looks forward to. This one month has the ability to potentially make or break a season, and with The Hammers boasting no less than seven new signings, I think on the whole this has certainly been one of the more active transfer windows as far as West Ham are concerned. In contrast to the final few days of…

Now that the January Transfer Window has ‘slammed shut’, we can finally sit back and admire the business done by the owners and Sam Allardyce. We all knew that very little money would be spent, if any at all, and that we’d have to rely heavily on loan signings and free transfers to get through… Read more »

Maiga and Diarra departures could free up space for new arrivals With Sam Allardyce claiming yesterday that he had filled his quota of 25 players for registration for the Premier League, could the possible departures of both Modibo Maiga and Alou Diarra free up space for a couple of new arrivals to The Boleyn Ground. With the transfer window closing on Friday, Bordeaux and Nice are expected to increase their interest in the West Ham striker. With the return …

I must say, what a result and a great team performance!! Ok, I will admit that when I saw the team sheet and saw Ravel and Cole on the bench but more importantly Maiga starting, I was skeptical to say the least. However, after seeing us completely dominate a game and not for the first time this season, I was very pleased with the result. Like every Hammers fan should be. Two things though…one, I honestly think we could’ve started the kids against Martin Jol’s Fulham. I…

West Ham 0-3 Chelsea Match Review Another poor performance! I think it is fair to say that we are in huge trouble and unless Andy Carroll returns by at least January, there is every possibility that we’ll be travelling to Barnsley next year. Chelsea looked much more comfortable on the ball than us from the first minute. We rushed every pass when we had time and laboured on the ball when we didn’t. Nolan was awful and a waste …

When asked of a player we would like to see leave West Ham, there can only be one player on the tip of everyone’s tongues, Modibo Maiga. Rumours have emerged over the past week that this player could be close to a move back to his former club, Sochaux. Last season, Maiga was a player that the fan’s welcomed to be brought on, scoring a handful of goals, when making an appearance. Most people will remember his goal …

Will The ‘False Nine’ Work? In our last two games, Big Sam has adopted a new formation to send out onto the pitch as a result of the failings of Modibo Maiga up front on his own, or at least the failing to make it work. The formation Sam chose was inventive to say the least. Drawing inspiration for the incredible Spanish national team, he decided the best thing to do once he failed …

We need to talk about Kevin…. During my previous article discussing Sam’s inability to revert to a plan B, I made the statement that we needed to look at the players we had available and work out the best way to utilise the players – and with the likes of Cole and Downing available again for the Hull game, it’s a sentiment I strongly believe in. Yet, sentiment may well be the very reason why so many of us are failing to ask the killer question. Does…

I Am Not Afraid of a Lost Season I write this in the moments after Everton’s equalizer in the early part of the 2nd half. I am sure that many who are watching the game are bemoaning West Ham’s inability to find the net, Maiga’s basic ineptitude, and our lack of a viable option to replace Andy Carroll. I am sure of this because it has been the most talked about West Ham story since the close of the transfer window, and maybe it should be. I choose to…
