After the good recruitment last summer it is about time West Ham let go a few players to fill the squad with more quality and to free up some wage bills. The first player I would expect to leave Upton Park this summer is Matt Jarvis, for the amount West Ham invested in him you could say it hasn’t really been worth it. Coming off the bench in some games he …

All the promises of a new attacking style of football before pre-season have been all but ruined by the seriously lacklustre and uninspiring performances and results this summer. The transfer business has been pretty decent, but we’re still yet to see any signs of the attacking flair the owners have demanded from Sam Allardyce after… Read more »

Given that we have no fresh injury worries, I wouldn’t be surprised if Allardyce lined up with the same starting XI that put in such a pathetic performance at home to Crystal Palace last weekend. Guy Demel returns from a virus, so he could step in for George McCartney, which might just be the only… Read more »

Life without Nolan Last night’s first half performance against Arsenal showed that, without Kevin Nolan in the team, we can still play some good football with Sam Allardyce at the helm. The midfield trio of Mark Noble, Antonio Nocerino and Mo Diame provided the catalyst for a brave 40 minute effort in which we created chances and looked dangerous going forward. The common conception is that when you have Andy Carroll in the team, you HAVE to play long ball…

The last time we went to the Emirates we were spanked 5-1, despite seeing Jack Collison give us the lead. That seems like an age ago now, particularly with all the problems we had over the festive period. The last few weeks have indicated that we’re beginning to show just how good we can be,… Read more »

Whether you think we’re safe yet or not, the likelihood of us being caught now is extremely minimal. That said, the likelihood of us getting a positive result at the Emirates tonight are almost just as minimal, despite Arsenal’s current form and injury problems. With little else to worry about other than the highest possible… Read more »

Jarvis to be sold to fund transfers? As we know FFP comes into effect pretty soon, and that means we will effectively have to start selling before we can buy. Our owners started preparing for this sooner rather than later and was speculated as one of the reasons why we didn’t buy another striker earlier in the season. There has been a number of players who have already been linked with summer moves to West Ham and many of …

West Ham continued their fantastic run of form with a 3-1 home victory over Southampton on Saturday, making it four Premier League wins on the bounce. Goals from Matt Jarvis, Carlton Cole and Kevin Nolan secured the victory to lift the Hammers in the top-half of the table and seven points clear of the relegation… Read more »

West Ham v Norwich post match review The Canaries made the trip down to East London looking for their first win at The Boleyn Ground since 1987, and although irrelevant records such as this mean very little, it always seems to be against West Ham that these records are broken. However, with West Ham picking up back to back wins, for the first time since returning to the Premier League, the boys in claret and blue were looking to …

Foundations Defenders are the unsung heroes of football teams, without them no team can compete, no matter what the level of quality is elsewhere. For this reason, I have some questions: who builds a house starting with the roof? Let’s look at Arsenal, a side who last year came fourth in the Premier League, many writing them off for any chance of even a Champions League place this year, especially after losing their first game 1-3 to Aston Villa. You may point to the signing of Özil …

Matt Jarvis was a big signing for us last summer but this season he’s been up and down and kind of nowhere. With the signing of Downing, which a lot of fans weren’t happy with but I think he’s alright so far, considering he’s not got a striker to cross to and Joe Cole playing well when he’s fit, Jarvis hasn’t even been in the starting line-up that much. We signed him last year with so much promise of being amazing and now a lot of games he’s not…
